✨ Paris metro, RER & bus AI
Your metro,
just ask the AI
One question, one clear answer: delays, next train, route, arrival time. Straight from live traffic, in your language.
Or tap an example:
Free · 10 questions a day · no sign-up
Example: “10 min, can I make it?”
Line 7 is running normally.
A real answer from the assistant: the route, the next trains live and your arrival time, in a few sentences.
What you can ask the AI
Delays and disruptions
Is your line running? If not, why (incident, strike…) and until when. Plus upcoming engineering works.
“Is line 13 disrupted? Why?” · “Any works on the RER A this weekend?”
Next trains and timetables
The next trains at your station in real time, and at night the first train in the morning. First and last departures, or a train at a specific time.
“Next metro 7 at Pont Marie?” · “Last metro at Bastille tonight?”
Routes and arrival time
Which line, which direction, where to change, how long it takes, what time you'll get there.
“Gare de Lyon → La Défense, how long?” · “I need to be at Jussieu in 10 min, can I make it?”
From where you are
Turn on your location: it finds the stations around you, walking time included, and the first train to catch. And its 🧭 compass walks you to the station, the stop or the place.
“Leaving in 10 min, how do I get to Anvers from here?” · “Nearest metro from here?”
A screenshot, a route
Send a screenshot (a message, an invite, an address): it spots the place and the meeting time, then tells you which line to take from where you are, how long it takes and when to leave. It knows addresses, bars, restaurants, venues and landmarks too.
“How do I get to the Stade de France?” · “Going to 12 rue de la Roquette: which line?”
Buses too
Every bus in the Paris region, every network, in Paris and the suburbs, day and night: the next one at the stop nearest to you, its route, the last one tonight, disruptions.
“When's the next bus 70?” · “Last Noctilien N14 at Denfert-Rochereau?”
In your language
It answers in the language of your question. Perfect for tourists.
“¿El RER C va con retraso?” · “La metro 4 è in ritardo?”
How does it work?
You ask your question. Type it the way you'd say it, dictate it with the mic, send a screenshot 📷, or tap a suggestion. The AI takes into account what you're looking at on the site (your line, your station, your bus stop, your trip) and, if you turn it on with 📍, where you are.
It reads live traffic. Traffic info, real-time next trains, scheduled timetables and upcoming works, from Île-de-France Mobilités. For a trip, it works out the route across the whole rail network: metro, RER, Transilien and tram, 969 stations.
It keeps it short. Yes or no, why, which stop, which train to take and what time you'll get there. No fluff.
The project: En retard, chef
It all started with a simple fact: when you're running after your metro, you don't have time to dig through three apps. En retard, chef (French for “running late, boss”) gives you the essentials in 2 seconds: tap your line and you know if it's running, tap your station and you see the next train, pick a start and an end and you get the journey time.
The AI is the logical next step: for everything that doesn't fit in a button (“am I going to miss my train?”, “where do I get off for the Eiffel Tower?”), you just ask, like you'd ask a friend who knows the network by heart.
The site is free, no sign-up, and independent: it relies only on open data from Île-de-France Mobilités.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an AI chatbot for the Paris metro?
Yes: the En retard, chef AI answers your questions about the metro, RER, Transilien trains, trams and buses in Paris and the Île-de-France region: delays, next trains, first and last train, routes, arrival time. You write the way you talk, it answers in a few sentences, based on live traffic.
Is the AI free?
Yes, no sign-up needed: 10 questions a day per person, so it stays free for everyone. The rest of the site (traffic, next trains, journey times) is unlimited.
Where do its answers come from?
From the official open data of Île-de-France Mobilités, the Paris region transport authority: live traffic info and real-time next trains (PRIM platform), timetables and travel times (GTFS). The AI reads this data the moment you ask: it doesn't make up times.
What languages does it answer in?
In the language of your question: English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, Chinese, Arabic…
Which AI does it use?
Claude, Anthropic's AI model, plugged into the site's IDFM data and limited to public transport in the Paris region (Île-de-France).
Are my questions stored?
No account, no personal data asked for. Your question is processed by Claude (Anthropic), which doesn't use it to train its models. To improve the service, questions are kept without IP address or identifier, with emails and phone numbers masked, for 30 days max. For the daily quota, a random ID and a hashed IP address are kept for 2 days. Details on the Privacy page.
Can I talk instead of typing?
Yes: tap the mic in the chat and speak, your question types itself. Read it over, then send. Your browser's speech recognition does the transcribing (Chrome, Safari, Edge…): the audio never goes through our servers.
Can I send it a screenshot?
Yes: tap 📷 in the chat (or paste or drag the image in) and send it, even without text. A chat where you set up a meetup, an invite, an address: the AI spots the place and the time, then gives you the route from where you are and when to leave. The image is shrunk and stripped of its metadata (including a photo's GPS location) in your browser, then sent to Claude (Anthropic) for that answer only: we don't keep it.
Does the AI know where I am?
Only if you allow it, with the 📍 button in the chat or a question like “nearest metro from here?” or “bus 70?”. Your location is used inside your browser to find the nearest stations and bus stops: the AI gets their names and the walking distance, never your coordinates, and nothing is stored.
Which lines does it know?
The whole Paris region rail network: the 14 metro lines (plus 3bis and 7bis), the 5 RER lines (A to E) with every branch, Transilien trains (lines H, J, K, L, N, P, R, U, V), trams (T1 to T14), CDGVAL, Orlyval, the C1 cable car and the Montmartre funicular: 969 stations. And every bus in the Paris region, every network, day and night (Noctilien included): real-time next buses at the stop nearest to you, route, first and last bus, disruptions. Routes it works out stick to rail.
Is it an official service?
No: En retard, chef is an independent site, not affiliated with RATP, SNCF or Île-de-France Mobilités. For an official delay certificate, go through the transport operator.
